This is a club for those of you who want to exceed by going above and beyond what is expected. WARNING: This club is only for students wishing to get smarter, go above and beyond, impress Mrs. Shaffer, their parents, and their classmates!
What is the Shining Star Club?
The Shining Star Club is a club for students who are interested in exploring and learning more about this amazing world around us. All you have to do is learn all about the topic, and record your answers in your "Star Spiral" notebook. You must research the topic you have picked (from the list provided by Mrs. Shaffer), memorize the answer and report the answer to Mrs. Shaffer during your recess.
Each topic challenge is worth one star. When you have earned ten stars, you will be placed in our classroom "Hall of Fame." Your name will stay on the wall for as long as I am teaching! I will also keep track of who has earned their name on our "Hall of Fame" on this page. You can earn all the way up to 84 stars! Learning never ends and your journey to becoming a life-long learner begins here!
Students:
To get started choose any question below. You do not have to do them in order, and you may research the topics using reference books or the following web sites. Your work may be done in school (this is something great for you to do when you finish your work early) or at home. When you feel you have mastered the content, let me know. We will then arrange a recess time for you to share your answers with me.
Be a smart internet researcher! I have made every attempt to ensure that the content on the following links is appropriate for students. However, please remember to practice safety rules when using the internet! Do not respond to any pop-up advertisements or promotions. Exit out of them immediately.
